Zula Callahan

Zula Kalezis Callahan passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center after a decline in health. She was born in Danville, VA on July 27, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Demetrious K. Kalezis and Talina D. Kalezis. She was predeceased by her late husband, Flinton Callahan. Mrs. Callahan was a 1954 graduate of George Washington High School and worked at Corning Inc. for more than 30 years. She is survived by her sister, Lillian K. Pappas; two brothers, Michael D. Kalezis (Efrosene), and Kalezis D. Kalezis. She was predeceased by one brother, Stathos D. Kalezis. She is also survived by her niece, Katherine Pappas, two nephews, John. L. Pappas (Glennette) and Jim Pappas (Donna Jeane) and 7 nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 7 to 8 P.M. at Townes Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice or to the Alzheimer’s Association of Danville-Pittsylvania County, 308 Craghead Street, Danville, VA 24541. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on north east at Roman Eagle as well as Sandra, Cheron, and Penny for their dedicated care over the last 10 years. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Callahan family.
