William Hogg

December 4, 1970 — February 9, 2024

William Eric Hogg passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in his sleep, at his residence in Danville, Virginia, Friday, February 9, 2024.

Eric, aged 53, was born on December 4, 1970, in Eden, North Carolina to Ralph and Cheryl Hogg, who survive. He was a graduate of Hargrave Military Academy and attended UVA, Wise, Virginia.

When not working for Mitratech (Austin, Texas) in client services, Eric was an avid fan of sailing and loved to spend time on the water. He enjoyed all things funny and had the most infectious laugh, edgy wit and inquisitive mind. Often, he was the most interesting person in the room telling random stories, sharing interesting facts, was a history buff and was widely read. He enjoyed watching birds at the feeders in his yard, especially bluebirds, and feeding tomatoes to his wild turtles that would come to the porch. He loved spending time driving on country roads on warm nights with the top down on his beloved blue Mustang, Bettie, and using his radar detector when traveling so he could leave all the slow people behind in his rear-view mirror.

Besides his loving parents of the residence, he is also survived by his first best friend and sister, Aimee Chesher, and his golfing buddy and brother-in-law, Tim Chesher; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and his special friend and traveling companion, Dawn Damron of Mineral Springs, Ohio.
Because of his love of the outdoors and wildlife, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Eric’s memory may be sent to Claws, Inc., 1516 Jo Mac Road, Chapel Hill NC 27516 which is a wildlife sanctuary and rehabilitation center.

A celebration of life will be held at Ringgold Baptist Church on Saturday, March 16 with visitation scheduled for 1:00 pm followed the service at 2:00 pm.

Please sign the online guestbook on the Memory Wall at www.townesfuneralhome.com The Hogg family has entrusted arrangements to Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main St., Danville, VA, 434-793-1211
