William Frederick Haley, Jr.

William (Bill) Frederick Haley Jr., 77, went to his heavenly home on January 5, 2025. He started his worldly life on September 27, 1947, in Danville, Virginia, when he was born to William Frederick Haley Sr. and Rosemary Helman Haley, who predeceased him. Bill is survived by a loving and devoted wife, Carolyn Hill Haley; daughter, Cynthia Haley, Roanoke, VA; son, William Frederick Haley III (Ricky), Lynchburg, VA; and grandson, William Frederick Haley IV (Will), Danville, VA. Bill was a loving father to Carabae Kegeler (Mark), Hardy, VA, and Christina Flippen (Steve), Danville, VA. Bill was an amazing grandfather to Rannon Jones (Amber), Danville, VA, and McKenzi Gregory (Ian), Ringgold, VA. He was thrilled to be a great-grandfather to Rowan Jones, Layton Jones, Aubree Jones, and Kyler Gregory. 

Bill was predeceased by his sisters, Anne Marie Haley Atkins and Betty Stuart Haley Scott. He was survived by his sisters Judy Haley Hooker, Terri Haley Hall (Phil), brothers Joe Haley, Philip Haley (Pat), Jeff Haley (Sarah), brothers in law, Jim Scott, Andy Hill, sister-in-law, Rita Moore, and numerous nieces and nephews.

After graduating from George Washington High School in 1966, he proudly served his country as a United States Marine. Danville Distributing Company employed Bill for 38 years. Bill enjoyed playing golf, going to the YMCA, being a member of the Improved Order of Redmen, Poquoson Tribe No. 124, and volunteering at the Homeplace Vineyard. Bill will truly miss his close friends at the vineyard, who were like family to him and Carolyn. 

Bill was raised in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Danville, VA, and later attended Liberty Baptist Church in Callands, VA. Bill loved to worship among his tight-knit church community. 

A memorial service will be held at Townes Funeral Home in Danville, Virginia, on January 16, 2025. Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM, followed by the memorial service at 2:00 PM. Bill’s close friend and pastor, Daryl Joyce, will conduct the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to God’s Pit Crew of Danville, Virginia.
