William Kermit Burnett, 78, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 in Riverside Health and Rehab Center. He was born on June 22, 1938 in Cedar Bluff, VA a son of the late Richard Albert Burnett and Mary Leanna Hurt Burnett. Bill is survived by his wife, Iris June Clark, whom he married on January 31, 1958. After graduation from high school, he served his apprenticeship with the Newport News Shipbuilding, and was employed there for 44 years until his retirement. In addition to his wife, June, he is survived by a son, William David Burnett and his wife Beth of Cary, NC; a daughter, Pamela Burnett Brigman of Nashville, TN; three granddaughters, Lauren N. Tremper and husband Kevin of Norfolk, VA, Lindsey M. Brigman of Nashville, TN, and Blair E. Burnett of Washington, DC; five great-grandchildren, David, Emma, Sarah, Jayden and Caleb Tremper; a brother, George G. Burnett and his wife Nancy of Celebration, FL; and a sister, Eloise B. Rife of Minneapolis, MN. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11 am in Highland Burial Park with Pastor Kevin Tremper officiating.
