Willard Victor Cousins, Jr. died Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Duke Medical Center, Durham, NC, after being in declining health for the past two years. He was born in Republican Grove, VA on June 18, 1932. He was a son of the late Willard V. Cousins, Sr. and Emma Lee Cousins. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother, Oscar M. Cousins. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Cousins, a daughter, Deborah C. Parsons (John) of Danville, VA, two sons, W. Kevin Cousins (Angelique) of Georgetown, KY, and William V. Cousins of Selma, NC. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren : Mindy Clay, Christopher Cousins, Cody Cousins, Shannon Cousins, Shelley Cousins, Jonathan McDaniel, Jennifer Marshall, Victor Parsons, Cara Shirley, Casie Stevens, and Andrew Trimble; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one brother, Robert C. Cousins (Linda) and one sister Beverly C. Summerlin (Gene), both of Goldsboro, NC; and 30 nieces and nephews. "Vic" retired from the Navy after serving 20 years in the Seabees, stationed in the Philippines, Texas, Virginia, Tennessee, Rhode Island, Antarctica, Puerto Rico, Greece, and Spain. He then spent the next 24 years in the Public Works Department of the City of Danville. He was a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Faith Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Austin Merricks officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and at other times will be at the residence, 345 Brentwood Drive, Danville, VA. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Faith Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 7450 Martinsville Highway, Danville, VA 24541. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street, Danville, VA is serving the Cousins family.
