Wendell English

Mr. Wendell Blair English, of 156 Capri Court died on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Center after a decline in health. Mr. English was born in Leesville, VA on November 2, 1926, a son of the late George Pierce English and Nolia Malvella Law English. Mr. English was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and was a graduate of Lynchburg College.  He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy.  Mr. English was active at West End Christian Church and Fairview United Methodist Church, Civitan Club and the Goodyear Retirees Club. He is survived by his wife; LaVerne Elizabeth Easterling English, three daughters; Lynn English Clark (Zane) of Danville, LaDelle English Moan of Danville and Elizabeth English Fitzgerald of Charlottesville, VA, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are one sister, Annette English McQuinn. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Fairview United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jennifer Coffey officiating.  Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from 7 to 8:30 P.M. at Fairview United Methodist Church and at other times will be at the residence 156 Capri Court.              Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the English family.  Online condolences may be directed to www.townesfuneralhome.com.
