Wallace B. “Rick” Adams, Jr., 70, of 214 Brandon Ct., Danville, VA, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at SOVAH Health Danville.

Rick was born on April 19, 1954, in Danville, VA, a son of the late Wallace B. Adams and Colleen Adams. He spent all his life in the Danville area, where he worked for Townes Funeral Home since 1971. He started his career at the funeral home as an ambulance driver. He then went on to graduate from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service and obtain his funeral service license in 1975. Through his service and care he helped countless families in the region over his career. He was an active member of many civic groups in the community. He enjoyed his time socializing as a member at Glen Oak Country Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially in Ruffin, NC, at the Lo-Life Rod and Gun Club. He also enjoyed Ducks Unlimited, the Schoolfield Lunch, and the Greek Orthodox Church. His proudest achievement was being a husband, dad, and Ampa.

He was married to his loving wife, Mary Ellen Adams, who survives of the residence.

In addition to his mother and spouse, he is survived by his daughters, Laura McClanahan (Glenn), and Lisa Kelpe (Mark); and three grandchildren, Lee Adams, Elizabeth Kelpe, and Ryan Kelpe; a brother, Jimmy Adams; and a nephew, Terry Adams.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Townes Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Hilliard officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.

The family would like to invite everyone to the residence, following the service on Sunday, for a Rick style party.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of Rick’s passion for the military and animals, the family requests memorial donations to the Danville Area Humane Society, https://dahsinc.com/#donate and Tunnels to Towers Foundation, https://t2t.org/
