Virginia M. Powell, age 98 died February 18, 2024 at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care after being in Caswell County. She attended Averett College and worked at Dan River Mills in the Personnel Office and later the Law Office of Dan River. Virginia was a long time member of the Piedmont Chapter of American Business Women’s Association serving as President and on various committees and voted 1966 Woman of the Year. Virginia also loved to play golf and was President of the Ladies Division at Glen Oak Country Club. She also served as a hospital volunteer for many years here in Danville. She was a member of Blanch Baptist Church and in later years West Main Baptist Church.
Virginia was predeceased by her parents Myrtle B. Powell and Pat Powell. One brother James H. Powell and sister-in-law Lila Y. Powell
She is survived by and was a devoted Aunt to her nephew James K. Powell (Laurel), Mt. Pleasant, SC and niece Frances Powell Harper, Dry Fork, VA. Also survived are: Great Nieces Jennifer P. Morrow, Kelsey Marom (Eric), Leah Herbers (Jess), Great Nephew Adam Harper, Grand Nieces Grace Jennings, Addison Jennings, Lila Jennings, Elli Marom, Nora Lila Marom, Grand Nephews Oren Marom and Griffin Morrow.
A graveside service will be held Friday February 23, 2024, 2:00pm at Blanch Baptist Church Cemetery, Blanch NC, with Rev. Michael Wiles officiating.
