Vickie Staples Trent, 65, of 138 Kemper Rd, earned her heavenly reward on Monday July 20, 2015 at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center after an eighteen month battle with cancer. She was born on April 4, 1950, a daughter of the late Milas Staples and the late Myrtle Staples. She was a faithful member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church where she was an active choir member and volunteer in the children's department as long as time and her health would allow. Ms. Trent was employed by Wal-Mart for 19 years as a Cashier and Floor Associate in various areas. She will always be remembered for her smile, outgoing personality, and loving attitude. She was loved and will be remembered by many people. Survivors include one son, Brandon Trent, sisters Patricia Alderson (Archie) of Danville, and Sylvia Trent (Richard) of Dry Fork, and a brother David Staples (Carol) of Durham, NC. She is also survived by her loving aunt Elsie Eanes, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 7-8:30 p.m. at St. Luke's United Methodist Church and other times at the home of her sister Patricia, 1207 Kemper Rd. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with Reverend Susan Hannah officiating. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the "Vickie Trent Fund" at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 3090 North Main Street, Danville, VA 24540. The family would like to thank the numerous Doctors, Nurses, CNA's and other staff at DRMC and Riverside Rehabilitation, for their loving care and support in her final days. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street, is serving the Trent family.
