View Video Tribute A devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend left her earthly home on Monday, August 28, 2017, for her mansion in Glory for eternity. After serving others during her lifetime she is now walking the golden streets and praising and worshiping Jesus her Savior. Hallelujah! Trudy was born April 27, 1948 in Richmond, Virginia to the late James Allie Eggleston and Helen Hamm Eggleston. She learned from them what it meant to love and appreciate family. Her immediate family and extended family were all special to her and her love for them was always evident. Trudy graduated from Manchester High School in Richmond in 1966 and attended Chowan College for two years. She then attended Radford University where she met her future husband on a blind date. She graduated in 1970 with a BA in History. Trudy's passion was teaching History and she loved children of all ages whether Wee Care at North Main Baptist Church, as an aide at Southside Elementary School or as a High School Teacher with Danville Public Schools. She spent many hours preparing for class and the results were evident given the success of her students and their subsequent love for her. Trudy also loved and cared for her fellow teachers and was a mentor to many of them. She received the highest praise a teacher could receive when a former principal told her she "was a natural in the classroom." How Trudy loved the beach. The times at Long Beach were special and she enjoyed them so much. Thank you John and Beck and Roger and Cyndy for allowing us to create unforgettable memories with you. And the years and years at Myrtle Beach with James and Dianne enjoying eight days in four nights. We could pack a lot of fun into a short time. Thank you both for the love you showed Trudy.
