We are sad to announce the death of Tony Curtis Nolan, who passed away unexpectedly in his home on July 10. Tony is survived by his parents, Curtis Nolan of South Carolina, and Claudia Minter of Texas; his two brothers, Daniel Nolan and Charles Nolan; and his sister, Mary Elizabeth Nolan-Miller.
From an early age Tony had a passion for music and performed as a member of various bands throughout his life. He was an avid reader with a particular love of American literature. He resided in Chapel Hill, NC for most of his adult life and was a beloved member of that community with close ties to the Chapel Hill music scene. The following quote from one of his favorite authors, Charles Bukowski, describes him well, "the free soul is rare, but you know it when you see it--basically because you feel good, very good, when you are near or with them."
We will be celebrating his life at Townes Funeral Home on Thursday July 20, 2023, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the charity "Tunnel to Towers," an organization providing housing to veterans and first responders. Donations can be made online at t2t.org/donate.
