Thomas Terry Shadrick II, age 95, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in the Danville Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 7, 1921, in Danville, VA, a son of the late Dr. Samuel Alfred Shadrick and Sallie Brown Shadrick. On June 7, 1950 he married the former Myrtle Carter and they were married 64 years until her passing on June 15, 2014.He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II and was part of the D-Day Invasion of the beaches at Normandy, France. Shortly after his marriage, he worked with his wife in the florist business, H. W. Brown Florist for 58 years. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. In addition to his wife, Myrtle, and his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Samuel Shadrick. He is survived by a daughter, Sallie Shadrick Abreu and husband Luis, and a son Thomas Terry Shadrick III and his wife Phyllis, all of Danville; four grandchildren, Philip Shadrick and his wife Carol, Kristopher Shadrick and his wife Charmian, Sarah Abreu and her financé William Schoof, and Maria Abreu and her friend Andrew Chima; two great-grandchildren, Philip Thomas Shadrick, II and Sabrina Carter Shadrick; and a step-great-grandaughter, Sienna Dawson. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, 2016 at 2 pm from the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany with the Reverend Becky Crites officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.
