Thelma Midkiff Riddle DANVILLE, VA Thelma Midkiff Riddle, age 93, of Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center, died Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Danville Regional Medical Center. She was born on August 4, 1919 in Whittles Depot, VA, Pittsylvania County, near Gretna , VA. She was the daughter of the late William Henry Midkiff and Jeter Robertson Midkiff of Gretna. She attended Pittsylvania County schools, but spent most of her life in Danville. She was married on November 10, 1939 to the late Lonnie Willard Riddle, who predeceased her on June 10, 2004. Mrs. Riddle was a very active member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school to children for many years before declining health. She also worked for many years in sales at the Belk Leggett store in Danville. Thelma was a very talented person. She was well known in Danville for her splendid rock and flower gardens at their earlier Parrot Street home. She was also talented in refinishing antique furniture, decoupage, crocheting, sweater, quilt, and afghan making. Her homemade coconut pies were delicious and enjoyed by everyone who ate them. She loved to cook. She is survived by two sons, Terry L. Riddle and his wife, Dale, of Smith Mountain Lake; Steven M. Riddle of Pompano Beach, Florida; one grandson, Michael L. Riddle and his wife Jill, of Midlothian, Virginia, three great- grandchildren, Amanda , Madeline, and Logan; one sister Edna Moore of Richmond. Mrs. Riddle was predeceased by brothers, Herbert and Thomas Midkiff and sisters, Mabel Gatewood, Erma Bowler, Frances Rowland, Margaret Midkiff, and Raymond Midkiff, infant. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Jeff Wright officiating. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
