Thelma Dix

VIEW MEMORIAL TRIBUTE   Thelma Pyrant Dix, 90, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 in Penn Nursing Center, Reidsville, NC.    She was born in Caswell County, NC, a daughter of William Andrew Pyrant and Maude Buck Pyrant.    Thelma was first employed at Dan River, Inc. and later with the Kroger until her retirement.    She was an active member of Providence Baptist Church and was instrumental in starting the church library.    Thelma is survived by her husband of 70 years, William N. Dix of the residence; a daughter, Gail D. Merchant of Danville; a son, William Kenneth Dix and his wife, Sandi of Yorba Linda, CA; and a sister, Frances Pyrant Lewis of Danville.    In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.    Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 3 PM at Providence Baptist Church with the Reverend Mitch Cifers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.    The family will receive friends at the church from 1:45 – 2:45 PM on Sunday and other times at the residence in Providence, NC.    The family suggests that memorials be made to your favorite charity. The family especially thanks the caregivers at Penn Nursing Center and a special friend Barbara Cook.
