Sondra Gay

Sondra Sue Gay (Susie), age 77, passed away peacefully at home on September 14, 2017.  She is survived by her husband of 54 years, G. Thomas Gay.  She is also survived by her two sons, Paul T. Gay, his wife Laura Hanen and their son Landen of Washington, D.C., Stephen M. Gay, his wife Jenny Radford Gay and their daughters Morgan Ashley and Chloe Elizabeth of Danville, VA.  Susie is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Pauline Ritter and Paul B. Ritter.  She was raised in Hall, WV, graduated from Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi, WV. She and her husband, Tom, established their lives in Danville VA 26 years ago. Susie retired from Dan River Mills.  She was an active member at West Main Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir.  She was proud of her service in the Eastern Star for more than 50 years.  Susie’s grandchildren, Morgan, Chloe and Landen brought her immense joy.  Susie is survived by her siblings, Thelma Sisson and her husband Jim of Murrells Inlet, SC, Ronald Ritter and his wife Viola of Arroyo Grande, CA, Paul Ritter Jr and his wife Johanna of Hall, WV and Michael Ritter and his wife Judy of Elkins, WV.  She has numerous nieces and nephews.  Susie also had a special relationship with her Uncle Jay Ritter of Wilmington, DE and her Uncle Paul Wayne Malcolm of Port Charlotte, FL. Services will be on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 12:00 PM at West Main Baptist in Danville, VA, officiated by Bruce Wilson. Family will receive friends starting at 11:00 AM at the Church.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Susie’s honor at the following:  West Main Baptist Church, 450 West Main Street, Danville, VA 24541, or to Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541 or to a charity of your choice.
