Sherman Roberts England, Jr., 78, of Danville, husband of Janice Osborne England, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday November 3, 2021. Born on February 10, 1943 in Rocky Mount, NC, he was the son of the late Sherman Roberts England and Katherine Kurzweg England. Sherman was an avid cyclist, who was known as the “Godfather” of cycling in Danville. On January 18, 2018, he completed his 100,000th mile on a bicycle. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity while at Western Kentucky University. Sherman was a member of the Classic Thunderbird Club International (CTCI). He was also a longtime member of the YMCA. He retired from Goodyear where he worked as a Systems Analyst. Sherman was a proud Eagle Scout and was still involved with helping young men achieve this goal as well. He was an active member and Lay Leader at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. He was active in the Holy Rollers within the VAUMC. In addition to his wife, Sherman is survived by a son, Sherman Ranford England, and wife, Michelle; two grandsons, Cody Tyler England and Dominic Lance Knecht; three great grandchildren and a sister, Charlene Newbolt, and husband, Jerry. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
