Sarah Anne Senter Wood, 82 of Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Healthcare, died Tuesday May 1, 2018 at SOVAH Health of Danville. Mrs. Wood was born on August 30, 1935 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to the Reverend Alfred Morris Senter and Nellie Vida Hiett. She received an AA degree from Bluefield College, a BA degree from Blue Mountain College where she received the Mary Crenshaw Art Award and a MA from Carver School of Missions and Social Work. She was a retired elementary school teacher and a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Danville until her health failed. Anne was married to the Reverend Robert Lawrence Wood who died October 11, 1998. She is survived by two step children, Dr. Christy Wood Robinson (Lee) and John Harris Wood (Tammy) both of Danville, Virginia, and was predeceased by her stepson Robert Lawrence Wood, Jr. (Karon) of Hanover, Virginia. She is survived by seven step grandchildren, Peter Wood, Robert Wood (Natalia), Aimee Mancil (Mark), Summer Clark (Cameron), Jenny Vannoy (Bryan), Aaron Wood and Christopher Robinson (Laura), and was predeceased by one step grandson Michael Wood (Tracey). She is survived by nine step great grandchildren, Hayden, Mason and Madilyn Wood, Wren and Rhea Wood, Landon Mancil, Kennedy, Emma and Colton Clark; two brothers, the Reverend Doctor Fred Senter (Martha) and the Reverend George Senter (Margareta); two sisters Linda Sullivan (Larry) and Carolyn Poteat (Billy); and was predeceased by a brother, Dr. Gordon Senter (Barbara). She is also survived by seven nieces, two nephews, four great nephews and two great nieces. Funeral Services will be held at Townes Memorial Chapel on Friday May 4 at 2PM. The family will receive visitors from 12:30 to 1:30PM at the chapel prior to the service and other times at the home of her daughter, 146 Robinwood Place. A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Danville or a charity of your choice.
