Ruth Sager

Ruth Roberts Sager passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1925 to parents Mary Mitchell Roberts and Joseph William Roberts.  She grew up in Wilmington, Delaware.    In 1950 she married Dr. William Laird Sager of Danville, VA.  He passed in 1996.    She was also predeceased by two sisters, Jane Harkins and Virginia Walker.    She was an active member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, serving in the Sunday School and church committees.  She served on YWCA, United Way, and community service boards.    She is survived by two sons, William Laird Sager, Jr. of Southern Shores, NC, his wife Bet and daughters Elizabeth and Eden, and Dr. Andrew Roberts Sager of Brentwood, TN, his wife Kris and daughters Emily and Claire.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.    Funeral services will be at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 8th at 2 PM with Reverend Bart Fletcher officiating.    Townes Funeral Home, 215 West Main Street is serving the Sager family.
