Ruby Emma Simms Scott, 87, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 in the Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born June 14, 1928 in Blairs, Va., a daughter of the late Charlie Estes Simms and Nettie Belle Martin Simms. Mrs. Scott lived in Danville and was employed most of her life with Dan River Mills, Inc. She was a charter member of Southall Baptist Church and Westover Baptist Church when they merged. She was married to the late Joseph E. Scott Sr. Survivors include her daughters, Judy Seay of Ringgold, Va., Jo Ann Scott of Danville, Va. Patricia Scott Daniels (Terry) of Halifax, Va. and Marsha Scott of Dry Fork, Va.; a sister, ReVonda Sims of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands; six grandchildren, Whit Seay (Stacye), Chris Seay, Kevin Daniels, Stephen Daniels, Joseph E. Scott, III, Ashley Scott; two great-grandchildren, Christian Daniels and Ryan Seay and a godson, Chad Scott Simms. Mrs. Scott is also predeceased by a son, Joseph E. Scott Jr. and his daughters Priscilla and Cheryl Scott; two sisters, Louise Kimbrough and Juanita Hill; and three brothers, Alfred Simms, Walter Simms Sr. and Dickie Sims. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 18, 2016 at Townes Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Walter Simms Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Thursday, March 17 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times will be at the residence of her daughter, Jo Ann Scott, 312 Robertson Avenue.
