Roy S. Guill, age 78, of 314 Terry Avenue, Danville, passed away at his residence on Friday, July 11, 2014. He was born in 1936 in Danville, a son of the late Harry T. Guill and Bessie Chattin Guill. He was married to Kathryn Cosby Guill who predeceased him in July 2006. Mr. Guill was educated in Pittsylvania County at Spring Garden High School and Danville Community College. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service, having served in Vietnam and Thailand. He also worked at Southern Refrigeration for 16 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 1097. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by his son Roy Wayne Guill and two brothers, Thomas Lee Guill and Bennie Guill. Mr. Guill is survived by one daughter, Debbie Guill Walker of Danville, two grandchildren Kris Walker and Kaycie Bowman and two great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Danville Memorial Gardens with Reverend Daryl Joyce officiating. Military Funeral Honors will be presented by American Legion Post 29. The family will receive friends at the residence. The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Association. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street, is serving the Guill family.
