Rosemary Young Robinson, 77, of Danville, Virginia, died peacefully at the VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia, on June 4, 2013, of complications following surgery in her brave fight against pancreatic cancer. Rosemary was an active and dedicated member of West End Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and volunteered over the years with organizations related to her and her family's interests, ranging from their church to scouting to Danville's City Beautiful Program. Following her service to Danville City Beautiful, Rosemary also was a member of The Wednesday Club. She enjoyed reading, her friends and time with family. Rosemary was born June 16, 1935, in Henry County, Virginia to the late John Robert and Blanche Montgomery Young. She graduated from Franklin County High School and continued her studies at National Business College in Roanoke. In December 1955, she married the late E. Claude Robinson and relocated to Danville. Rosemary and Claude were just two months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary at the time of his death. She is survived by two sons, Jeff and Chris, along with their families, residing in Richmond. Jeff's family includes his wife Coressa, their son Tucker and daughter Taylor. Chris' family includes his wife Jennifer and their son Blake. Although Rosemary was an only child, she enjoyed the friendship of her many aunts, uncles and cousins as well as great friends made and kept from her childhood through her death. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to either the West End Christian Church Memorial Fund (130 Montague Street, Danville, VA 24541) or the VCU Massey Cancer Center (P.O. Box 843042, Richmond, VA 23284). The family will host a casual open house gathering for friends and family at the family home in Danville, Friday, June 7, from 5 pm until 9 pm. Services will be on Saturday, June 8 as follows: Visitation from 10 am to 11 am at Townes Memorial Chapel, Danville, with a service following at 11:30 am. A graveside service will be held at 3 pm at Mountain View Memorial Park (5970 Grassy Hill Road, Boones Mill, VA 24065) alongside her husband, mother and father.
