Rosa Scruggs Keck passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, 273 Westridge Drive, on Monday, December 2, 2013. She was born in Florida on February 12, 1925 to the late Harry L. Scruggs and Ola Burton Scruggs. Rosa grew up in the Danville area, attended Dan River School, and retired from Dan River, Inc., with 45 years of service in the Production Control Department. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by her loving husband James Keck; a sister Margret Crowder, great granddaughter Jameson Elizabeth Manuel, and step-daughter Nancy Davis. Survivors include her daughter JoAnn Manuel and husband Ken, grandson James Manuel, granddaughter-in-law Fran Manuel, great-grandsons Andrew and Colin Manuel, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosa was a faithful member of Ferry Road Friends Church and enjoyed the many friends there. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Graveside funeral services will be held at Highland Burial Park on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Arnold Faw officiating. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM. At other times the family will be at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to Brosville Volunteer Fire Department, Danville Life Saving Crew, or Danville Humane Society.
