Ronnie Mason Waters, age 83, of Danville, Va., passed away on January 22, 2016 at Royal Park Nursing Home in Matthews, N. C. after several years of declining health. Born on November 18, 1932, in Roanoke Rapids, N. C., he was the youngest son of the late Clyde and Olive Waters. He was also predeceased by a brother, Earl Waters. On August 4, 1958, he married Lucia Marie Ready, who predeceased him on December 17, 2014. He is survived by his two children, Lucia Johnson (Tom) of Matthews, N. C. and Dan Waters (Tammy) of Danville; five grandchildren, T Johnson, Marie Blanton (Tyler), Christopher Waters, Drew Johnson and Kathryn Waters; a brother, Cyril Waters and several nieces and nephews. Following graduation from Roanoke Rapids High School, he served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 and was stationed in Germany for part of that time as a member of the Military Police. He then graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Right out of college, he was hired by Dan River Mills, Inc. as an Industrial Engineer where he worked for 28 years. He was an active member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church with the Reverend Barry Foster officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after the service.
