Ronald Wayne Williams, Sr., 81, husband of Hazel Kennedy Williams, of Danville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 14, 2018. Born on August 27, 1936 he was a son of the late E. H. Williams, Jr. and Lillian Shuping Williams. Ronald was a 1962 graduate of the T. C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. He practiced law in Danville and Pittsylvania County for over 50 years. He was a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Danville Bar Association where he served as Past President, and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. Always looking to serve his community, Ronald was a Danville City Council Member and Pittsylvania County School Board Member. He was a former Mayor of the City of Danville. He was also a member of many community organizations, such as, the Jaycees, the Ruritan Club, the Sertoma Club and Lions Club. Ronald loved being able to spend time with his family as well as his church family. He was a former member of Brosville United Methodist church, and taught Sunday School there for 25 years. He was currently a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church. Never slowing down from serving others, he found time to become a published author. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by five children, R. Wayne Williams, Jr., MD, and his wife, Cindy, Mark T. Williams, and his wife, Candy, David “Moose” Williams, The Honorable Stacey W. Moreau, and Councilmember Andrea W. Oakes, and her husband Kenny; two step-children, Larry Baker, and his wife, Marsha, and Donna Kennedy; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three siblings, E. H. Williams, III, and his wife, Gayle, Dan A. Williams, and his wife, Carolyn, and Linda Hankins, and her husband Wilson. In addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his first wife, LuRae Baker Williams; a brother, Bob Williams; and son-in-law, Charlie A Moreau. A visitation will be held, Monday, July 16, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Townes Funeral Home, 215 West Main Street, Danville, VA 24541. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Memorial Baptist Church, 7450 Martinsville Highway, Danville, VA 24541, with Pastor Daniel Lackey officiating. Burial will follow the service in Highland Burial Park.
