Robert Franklin (Bob) Warren, Sr. of 219 Salisbury Circle, Danville, VA died Monday, September 21, 2015 at Riverside Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Lynchburg, VA on October 24, 1935, the son of the late Frank Edgar Warren and Myrtle Holt Umstead Warren. He was also predeceased by his brother, Charles L. Warren. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University and served in the United States Marine Corps attaining the rank of Major. He was married for 58 years to Joyce Wooldridge Warren, who survives. He was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. After retiring from a career with Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Company, Bob was a successful entrepreneur and played a key role in founding several businesses. These included Warrco, Inc. and the Commonwealth Group. He is Past President of the Danville Life Saving Crew and the Danville Kiwanis Club. He served on the Board of Directors of numerous companies and organizations including the Virginia Department of Commerce Board, the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, The Daniel Group, the Danville Area Association for Arts and Humanities, the Danville Area Development Foundation, Inc., the Danville Science Center, Inc., and the DPC Community Foundation. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Susan Warren Rabon and her husband Tom of Holly Springs, NC; his son, Robert F. Warren, Jr. and his wife Mindy of Danville, VA; and four grandchildren, John, Franklin, Preston, and Reagan. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at 2pm at the Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Charles W. Wickham officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday, prior to the funeral service from 12:30-1:30 at Townes Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Danville Lifesaving Crew, 292 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541.
