Robert "Bob" Ray Everett, age 67 of Providence, NC, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, January 1, 2015, after a decline in health and a tough, strong battle. Bob was born on November 13, 1947, raised in Providence and a prominent figure of the community. He is the son of the late O.L. Everett & Gladys Shelton Everett. He was a lifetime member of Providence Baptist Church and an experienced Tobacco Farmer. He was a devoted husband, supportive and loving father and an amazing friend. Bob's dedication to his family and friends was something that everyone will cherish for years to come. His word was as strong as stone and his morals & values were unwavering. Bob had enjoyed 12 years of retirement with much time to enjoy farming and family. He retired from The North Carolina State Department of Transportation after 35 years of dedicated service. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Oliver Everett. Surviving are his wife of the home, Patsy Cook Everett; son, Kenneth Everett and wife Amanda; granddaughter Emma Kaye Thornton and many nieces, nephews and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the church's cemetery. The family will hold a receiving on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence, 4735 Walters Mill Road in Providence, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bob's memory to Providence Fire & Rescue. Townes Funeral Home, 215 West Main Street, is serving the Everett family.
