Richard Ramey

Richard Lee Ramey, Sr. died January 11, 2018 in Highlands, NC. He was born August 6, 1935 in Danville, VA, the son of the late Robert Homer and Helen Tesh Ramey.    After graduating from NC State College in Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Ramey was employed by Duke Power Company in Charlotte, NC for 35 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a devoted member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. For several years he and his family lived in Davidson and after moving to Cashiers joined the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Mr. Ramey served in the US Army during the Korean War. In retirement he enjoyed mountain living with his family and friends.   Richard Ramey is survived by his wife of 45 years, Madge Wiseman Ramey; children Helen Tesh Ramey and Richard Lee Ramey, Jr. (Vladimir); and brother, Rev. Dr. Robert H. Ramey, Jr. (Gail). The family would like to express their gratitude to the Eckerd Living Center and their staff, and especially to Stephanie Hensley, Mr. Ramey's caregiver.   A graveside service will be held Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm in Highland Burial Park in Danville, VA, officiated by his brother and Rev.
