Richard Gaddis

April 2, 1945 — August 14, 2022

Richard Alan Gaddis Sr. passed away on August 14, 2022 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro NC. Born February 4, 1945 in St. Augustine, FL. He was a son of the late Reginald Gaddis and Catherine Gaddis. He grew up in the St. Augustine FL and Charlotte NC area. He was a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School. He was captain of his high school football team. He served in the United States Army and was proud of his military service. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He worked in the dry-cleaning business for many years. In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Jean Clifford and brother Leonard Gaddis. He is survived by his wife Vera Gaddis, daughter Carrie Turner, granddaughter Katie and his nieces Susan Collins and her husband Tim and Deborah Paul and her husband Bill. He also leaves behind his very, very special dogs Andy and Chewey. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 2:00pm at Townes Funeral Home with the Rev. Daryl Joyce officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff and palliative care team at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro for the great care Mr. Gaddis received.
