Richard Howard "Dickie" Doss was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on May 2, 2016 in Greer, SC at the age of 77 after a four - year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He retired from Fluor Daniels in Greenville, South Carolina, after traveling the world as a piping engineer. Richard was born in Danville, VA on May 7th, 1938 to the late Jesse and Frances Doss. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lucille Doss; one sister, Becky Doss and husband, Billy; four sons, Richard Doss, Jr., Randy Doss, Ron Doss, and Brian Doss; four daughters, Robyn Flanagan, Cherie Tamson and husband, Bob, Pam Emmert and husband, Blaine, and Laurel Doss; two step sons, Billy Ray Deaton and wife, Myra, and David Walker and wife, Pamela; fifteen grandchildren, two step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Jean Hamlett and Patricia Saunders; and one step daughter, Pamela Deaton Gordon. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Townes Funeral Home,215 West Main Street, officiated by Rev. Walter Yancey. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, South Boston, VA.Visitation will be Thursday, May 5th from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at Townes Funeral Home, and all other times at the home of his daughter, Cherie Tamson at 612 Pocahontas Rd, Danville, VA.
