VIEW MEMORIAL VIDEO Ret. LT. Colonel Ronald Calvin Ball retired for the second time on Monday, 9-11-2017 with his angel wings. He left behind a large family of loved ones and friends. He was the son of Calvin and Inez Ball who has predeceased him, along with his brother Michael Ball. Ronnie was born in Danville, Va. On May 7, 1949 and on June 16, 1978 he married the former Ruth Ann Daughrity of Danville, VA. He went to G. W. High School and DCC, graduated with a Degree in Applied Science – Magna Cum Laude; Criminal Justice. He retired as a Lt. Colonel after 39 years in law enforcement, 21 years with the Danville Police Department and 18 years with Danville Sheriff Department. During his career he was certified as a Thermographer (LETA) Graduate from FBI Academy's Advanced Administrative Latent Fingerprints. Graduated United States Marshals School in Advance Court Security Education. Drug Abuse Resistance Education Instructor (D.A.R.E), Lifetime Honorary Member of Danville Life Saving Crew, Charter Member of Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #36, 1992 Recipient of Piedmont Regional Academy's Directors Award and Presidential Inauguration Award in 2009. He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann Ball, two sons John (wife: Debbie) and Christopher Saunders both from Danville. He is also survived by six grandchildren Megan, Austin, Karabeth, Remington, Jamie and Brianna. Also, his brother Kenneth Ball; Best Friend (wife: Wanda) and sister Terry Francis (husband: Al). Funeral services will be held at Townes Memorial Chapel, at 2:00 PM, on Friday, September 15, 2017 with Pastor John Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home, from 12:30 to 1:30 PM prior to the funeral and at other times at the residence, 122 Brook Circle, Danville, VA 24541.
