Raymond Hodge Mann Jr. passed away on August 28, 2015 in Danville. He was born on May 27, 1937 to the late Raymond Hodge Deuteronomy Mann Sr. and Dymple Marie Lewis Mann. He grew up in Danville and graduated from George Washington High School in 1955. Mr. Mann worked at his father's grocery store, Mann's Grocery before going to the University of Virginia where he majored in geology. After college Mr. Mann moved back to Danville until 1967 when he moved to Williamsburg, VA where he worked at The College of William and Mary until his retirement in 1994. After retiring Mr. Mann returned to Danville where he lived in his childhood home, 129 Girard Street and in 2000 he moved to 403 Girard Street and lived there until his death. Mr. Mann was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He will be deeply missed by his lifelong friend Harry Smith. A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Highland Burial Park with Reverend Jeffrey Wright officiating. Townes Funeral Home, 215 West Main Street, is serving the family.
