Ralph Hampton Joyce, Jr. gained his angel wings after a long battle with cancer on October 17, 2024.
Ralph was born on October 30, 1959, in Danville, Virginia, a son of the late Ralph Hampton Joyce, Sr. and Shelby Womack Joyce. He attended Sutherlin Academy, then graduated from Averett University. He spent his life in Danville, where he proudly served as a math professor at Tunstall High School and Hargrave Military Academy. Ralph was baptized at Kentuck Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading, riding bikes, and watching comedy. He was an avid Star Trek fan, and he loved spending time with family, cooking cheesecake, and animals.
Ralph was married to Terry Turner Joyce on April 20, 1996.
In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by a daughter, Norma Jean James, a granddaughter, Aaliyah James, a brother, Johnie Joyce (Lisa), and his special nephews, Josh and J.P. Joyce.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at Townes Funeral Home with the Reverend J.P. Joyce officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Danville Pittsylvania Cancer Society and the SPCA.
