Philip Henderson Mealer, 92, of Danville, VA, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019. He is survived by his wife Peggy of 66 years, daughter Leanne, son in law, Zuben Postvala and his daughter, Kaizeen. Daughter, Lisa, son in law Ted Longmire, Jr., two grandchildren, Cassie Upton and her husband, Chris, their four children, Isaac, Sam, Emily and James, Afton Eagle and her husband Eugene, and their three children, Addison, Aiden and Elaina. Philip served in the Army Air Corp from 1945 - 1946. He retired from Universal Leaf Tobacco Company where he was a tobacco buyer. Apart from his job as a tobacco buyer he enjoyed playing pool with his son in law and friends at a local senior citizen center. He loved visiting the farm in the country where he grew up with his brother, Jerry and cousins, Malcolm and Bruce Myers. He also spent time at the American Legion Post 325 in Danville Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Townes Memorial Chapel in Danville, VA at 11:30am with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be at Oak Level Presbyterian Church directly following the service.
