Margaret Spooner “Peggy” Mealer, 91, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019 at Commonwealth Assisted Living Stratford House. She was born in Danville, Va. on March 2, 1928, a daughter of Clarence Howell Spooner and Margaret Carter Spooner Wilson. Peggy was married for 66 years to Philip Henderson Mealer who predeceased her on July 7, 2019. She was a bookkeeper for the City of Danville and after moving to Henderson, NC, she was a bookkeeper for Senior Citizens Home. She was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a daughter, Leanne, son-in-law, Zuben Postvala, and his daughter Kaizeen, daughter Lisa, son-in-law, Ted Longmire, Jr., two grandchildren, Cassie Upton and her husband, Chris, their four children, Isaac, Sam, Emily, and James, and Afton Eagle and her husband, Eugene, and their three children, Addison, Aiden and Elaina and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Faye Hall. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Townes Funeral Home. A private burial will follow in Oak Level Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Vernon Hill, Va.
