Paula “Sue” Reeves Lea, 79, passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Sue was born on December 24, 1942, in Macon, Georgia to the late Byron Eugene Reeves and Pauline Blizzard Reeves. Sue was a model for two years for the Ann Zior Modeling School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Campbell University in 1965. Sue was a home economics teacher at Erwin High School for 10 years. Though her life was filled with serving the community and a dedication to making the world more beautiful, her true passion was as a caregiver to her three children and as a loving sister. Sue will be remembered as a loving wife, dedicated mother, and loyal friend. She enjoyed arranging flowers and was past president of the Garden Club of Danville. Sue was also a member of the Wednesday Club and found joy in tutoring young students at Schoolfield Elementary. One of her greatest loves was her dog, Sofee. She will also be remembered for her larger-than-life presence and gracious attitude. She was known as the truest example of class and grace. Sue is survived by her husband of 28 years, William Townes Lea II.; Jeanne Stuart Turlington of Lexington, Kentucky; Edward Stuart Turlington and his wife Megan of Lexington, Kentucky; Carrie Turlington Bazemore of Savannah, Georgia; and Kimberly Lea Turlington of Lexington, Kentucky. She has six beautiful grandchildren, Katherine Hadley Bazemore, Cameryn Renee Lea, Randi Elise Lind, Colton Reeves Turlington, Jacob Harrison Bazemore, and Ava Catherine Lea. Sue is also survived by her sisters Joy Reeves Guido and Linda Reeves Blackstone and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Sue is preceded in death by William Townes Lea III, Byron Duke Reeves, John “Johnny” Thomas Reeves, Byron Eugene Reeves II, Betty Reeves Johnson, and Byron Wayne Allen. The family will celebrate Sue’s life with a graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery on Saturday February 19 at 11:00am. The family will receive visitors after the service on Saturday at the residence.
