Patsy Ann Cook Boggs passed away “at the ripe age of 39” on October 19, 2016, at Danville Regional Medical Center. She was born on January 23, 1928, in Danville, VA, to Vesper Lee Cook and Georgia Mae Porter Cook. She is survived by her loving husband, James Boggs, who she married on December 25, 1946; brother Don Cook; daughter, Lynn Hudson and husband Bill; son Richard Boggs and wife, Joan; daughter Melissa Stowe and husband Norman, and daughter-in-law Susie Bradley, and husband Gil. She is survived by nine grandchildren; Amy Boggs (Glen Willett); Trina Payne (Matthew); Rebecca Wright (Ben); Jon Hudson (Misty Gosney); Robin Hylton (Lawrence); Kimberly Kane (Michael); Richard “Rick” Boggs Jr; Erica Watson; and Tyler Stowe. She was also survived by eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son James “Jimmy” Boggs Jr, as well as by brothers John Cook, Howard Cook, and Vesper “Red” Cook Jr, and sisters Beatrice Adkins, Iris Eberly, Ruth Stickley, Nell Stewart, June Transou. Patsy was both not only a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, the list goes on, but she was also a woman who exemplified strength, love, and faith in all matters of life. She was a member of Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church for many years. She worked at Dan River Mills for six years in the weaving room. She found joy in spending time with family and playing with her youngest grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her tender yet stubborn character will be missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Sunday, October 23, 2016, from 6:00 to 7:30PM. At other times, the family will be at her residence, 139 Kenmore Drive. A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held at Townes Memorial Chapel with Reverend Lisa Nordan officiating on Monday, October 24, 2016, at 2PM The family request, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church, Schoolfield Preservation Foundation, or Danville Life Saving Crew.
