Patty Harris, 60, of 329 Lindhurst Dr. Danville VA, passed away on Thursday afternoon, January 11, 2018. She was born in Washington D.C. on May 24, 1957 to the late Florence LaClair Samordic and Michael Samordic. Patty graduated from Saint Mary’s Academy High School in Alexandria, VA and in 1980, graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Following her education, she taught for 28 years at Sacred Heart Catholic School and continued at Dan River Middle School for 7 years before retiring at age 58. She continued to be a dedicated substitute teacher every year following her retirement. She is survived by her husband, Bill; daughter, Lyndsey (boyfriend, Josh); son, Ben (girlfriend, Jenny); son Brad (Courtney); sisters, Diane Ford, Michelle Bivins (Dennis); brother, Michael Samordic; sister-in-laws, Terry Haraway (Doug), Barbara Coleman (Don), Betsy Hall (Larry); and cat, OK. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Cecil Harris, brother-in-law, Spence Matthews, and great-nephew, Parker Coleman. The family will have visitation Sunday, January 14 from 6 – 8pm at Townes Funeral Home and other times at the residence. The funeral will be held Monday, January 15 at 2pm at Townes Funeral Home by Father Jonathan Goertz with internment following at Highland Burial Park.
