Paschal Lanier Anderson, Jr., 99, of Stratford House died January 28, 2014. Born August 30, 1914, in Danville, VA, he was the son and only child of Pascal Lawrence Anderson and Ellen Hawkins Anderson. Living his entire life in Danville, he attended the city schools. While acquiring his degree from the University of Richmond, he was a member of Kappa Sigma social fraternity. During World War II, he served in the US Navy as a communications officer. In 1947, he became an FCC licensed radio amateur and retained that interest for the remainder of his life. For fourteen years he served as a national director of the American Radio Relay League, headquartered in Hartford, CT. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. In 1936, he entered business with his father, and in 1941 the firm became known as PL Anderson & Son, builders. On April 16, 1938, he was married to Marie Harwell Anderson, who predeceased him in 2007. He was a former member of the Danville Golf Club, Faith Home board, Lions Club, German Club, and Young Men's Club. Survivors are his daughter, Gail Anderson Ramey and husband Robert, and grandson John Anderson Barnett. Following a private burial, funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 2:00 PM with the Reverend John Carroll officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
