Dr. Norman Edward "Ed" Taylor II of Arcadia, Florida, passed away peacefully at 62 years of age on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Ed was born March 25, 1959 in Pulaski, Virginia to Norman Edward Taylor and Evelyn Marie Eagles. He was married to his best friend and travel partner, Deborah Taylor for 37 wonderful years. Ed was loving and extremely proud of his two children Norman "Eddie" Taylor III and his wife Amanda of Culpeper, Virginia and Kristin "Kit" McGuire and her husband Thomas of Dallas, Texas. He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents Murray Edward Taylor and Elsie Parish Taylor, aunts and uncles. He spent his life serving his communities as an officer for the Lewisburg Police Department, graduated from Luther Rice Seminary with his Doctorate of Ministry in 2000, and ministered as a pastor for 28 years. He served churches in Raleigh, North Carolina; Blackridge, Virginia; Greensboro, North Carolina; Boomer, North Carolina; Amissville, Virginia; Hume, Virginia; Riegelwood, North Carolina; and Arcadia, Florida. He also served on the Executive Board of the Southern Baptist Convention of Virginia for many years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Townes Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in Highland Burial Park. Ed was passionate about Samaritan's Purse and St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
