Nancy Elizabeth Williamson, 74, of Alton, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in Danville after a courageous battle with cancer. During this time, she had always held firmly to her faith saying, “God will take care of me!” Nancy was born on May 4, 1944 in Danville, a daughter of the late William Washington Williamson and Anita Jordan Williamson. She graduated from Halifax County High School in 1962. She worked for Life of Virginia for over 27 years in Richmond. After she moved back home, she worked in food service in Halifax County Schools for 17 years before retiring. Nancy was a lifelong member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Nancy is survived by her sister, Charlotte Propst, and niece Tracy Propst and her boyfriend, Gary Ricker, all of Sandston; two brothers, Fred Williamson (Nancye) of Alton and Byrdie Williamson (Martha) of Danville; nephew Adam Williamson (Alison) and their children, Andrew, Clayton and Ansley and niece, Lesley Williamson, all of Danville; sister-in- law, Betty Williamson, and nephew, John Williamson, both of Alton, and John’s girlfriend, Lyndsay Lawter of South Boston, and niece, Amanda Williamson, of Roanoke. She is also survived by one aunt and many cousins. In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her brother, William Alexander “Alex” Williamson, and brother-in-law, Tommy Propst. A visitation will be held at 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, December, 29, 2018 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Alton. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the church with Reverends Chris Donald, Ralph K. Hawkins, Darrell T. Campbell, and Stan Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Betty Williamson.
