Nancy Hankins Scott of Milton, NC, beloved mother and grandmother, died at her home on Monday, September 9, 2013. Nancy was born October 23, 1932, in Danville, VA, daughter of Dr. William Oldham and Annette Wilson Hankins. Her brother was William Oldham "Billy" Hankins, Jr. She attended George Washington High School and went on to graduate from Randolph Macon Women's College. Nancy is survived by four sons and one daughter -- W. Arthur Sylvester (Jan) of Cary, NC; Anthony R. Sylvester of Pittsboro, NC; George Lea Scott, III (Tammy) of Midlothian, VA; Wilson C. Scott (Marsha) of Midlothian, VA; and Pamela S. Kilpatrick (Michael) of Apex NC. She has nine grandchildren -- Richard Sylvester (Jessica), Kathryn Sylvester, Sarah and William Kilpatrick, Georgia, George and Caroline Scott, and Elizabeth and Laura Scott. She was predeceased by her husband, George Lea Scott, Jr. Nancy was blessed with so many wonderful friends, many dating back to her childhood in Danville, through her love of bridge and her work in the legal profession. She was a great joy and an inspiration to her family, and she will be greatly missed. Nancy lives on in countless wonderful memories. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home in Danville, VA, on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at Connally United Methodist Church in Milton, NC on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Reverend John Upton officiating. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street, Danville, VA , is serving the Scott family.
