Nancy Garwood

Nancy Wall Pruitt Garwood, 88, of 439 Northmont Blvd, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 in SOVAH Health, Danville.      She was born on November 30, 1929 in Pittsylvania County, Va.  a daughter of the late Vessie T. Wall and Nettie Lee Thornton Wall.      Nancy was predeceased by her first husband, J. B. Pruitt, Jr. and later married John Stuart Garwood who survives of the home.      She was an LPN at Danville Memorial Hospital until her retirement.  She was a member of First Baptist Church where she had served on various committees. She was a member of The Wednesday Club and the Danville Homemakers.      In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by a daughter, Brenda Joyce Pruitt of Powder Springs, Ga.; a son John Bentley Pruitt, III (Susan) of Alpharetta, Ga.; five sisters, Louise W. Dalton, Dorothy Sowell, Lorna W. Hughes, Patsy W. Pyron (Sonny) and June W. Hylton (Wayne) all of Danville; two brothers, Bobby Wall (Lavalon) of Bristol, Tenn. and David Wall (Barbara) of Danville; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Pruitt Coffee (Ben) and William Bentley Pruitt both of Alpharetta, Ga.      Nancy was also predeceased by three sisters, Hazel W. Taylor, Beryl W. Soyars, Esther W. Soyars and a brother Woodrow Wall.      Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2 pm with the Reverend John Carroll officiating.  Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.      The family will receive friends at the church in the Heritage Room on Saturday from 12:15 to 1:45 pm and at other times will be at the residenc.      Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 871 Main Street, Danville, VA 24541 or to your favorite charity.
