Myrtle Carter Shadrick, 89,of 1625 Berry Hill Road, passed away on Sunday morning, June 15, 2014, in the Danville Regional Medical Center after a decline in health for the past seven months. She was born on November 30, 1924 in the Gatewood Community of Caswell County, NC a daughter of the late Lewis Gibbons Carter and Mamie Woods Carter. On June 7, 1950, she married Thomas Terry Shadrick, II and they were married for 64 years. Myrtle was employed in her early years for Kingoff Jewelers where the Kingoffs were influential in her early career. Shortly after her marriage, she worked with her husband in the florist business at H. W. Brown Florist for 58 years. Myrtle was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her husband, Thomas T. Shadrick, II, a daughter, Sallie Shadrick Abreu and husband Luis, a son, Thomas Terry Shadrick, III and his wife Phyllis all of Danville, a brother, Lewis Gibbons Carter, Jr. and wife Ann, four grandchildren, Philip Shadrick and wife Carol, Kristopher Shadrick and his wife, Charmian, Sarah Abreu and Maria Abreu, two great-grandchildren, Philip Thomas Shadrick, II and Sabrina Carter Shadrick. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany with the Reverend Becky Crites officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The family would like to especially thank everyone at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center, Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center and the Danville Regional Medical Center for the love and care given to Myrtle during her extended illness.
