Michelle Uitto

Michelle JoAnn Uitto, 40, died at home Wednesday, May 29, 2019. Michelle was born on March 8, 1979 and was the precious daughter of Gary Eugene Uitto and Mary Jane Uitto. She is survived by her parents and her two brothers: Greg Gene Uitto and his wife Kristen; Kevin Joseph Uitto and his wife Frannie. She was also the beloved Aunt Meesh to four nieces and two nephews: Owen Liam Uitto, Isla Jane Uitto, Claudia Jane Uitto, Anya Reed Uitto, Joseph Bondurant Uitto, and Esme Jo Uitto. Michelle graduated from George Washington High School of Danville, Virginia in 1997. She received her BS in nursing from the Medical College of Virginia and began working in the labor and delivery unit at MCV. She was also a travel nurse at the University of Virginia Health System and Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. She concluded her 15-year nursing career at Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas. When not working, Michelle enjoyed knitting, baking, making lasting friendships, and celebrating in family traditions. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home, 215 W. Main Street, Danville, VA, Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 6-7:30 p.m., and on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 10-11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 538 Central Blvd, Danville, VA.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 11A.M. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jonathan Goertz officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart School, 538 Central Boulevard, Danville, VA; Mountain Valley Hospice, 730 East Church Street, Martinsville, VA; or Duke Pediatric Cardiology, 2301 Erwin Road #7506, Durham, NC.
