Maynard McDaniel went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 7, 2022. He was born October 6, 1930, to Ethel Rogers McDaniel and George H. McDaniel in Riceville, VA and was married to Bonnie Hudson McDaniel. He was predeceased by his wife, parents, and sister, Lila Weatherford; and brothers, Virgil McDaniel and Allen McDaniel. He is survived by his son, Mark McDaniel (Lisa); granddaughters, Carrie Staton (Corey), Melissa Graham (Patrick), and Paige McDaniel (Steve Radford-Fiancé); great-grandsons, Fisher, Eli, Haddon, and Campbell Staton, and Tucker Graham; sister, Gaile Shelton; and brothers, Wiley McDaniel, Lacey McDaniel, Merle McDaniel, Henry McDaniel, and Jerry McDaniel. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, worked and retired from the Disston Plant, and farmed. He lived most of his life in the Riceville community, where he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Riceville and the Riceville-Java Volunteer Fire and Rescue Departments. He moved to North Carolina in 2016 to be closer to his son. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Townes Funeral Home. A private, family only, interment will follow at Highland Burial Park.
