Upon graduating from Winchester Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, she and Charlie were married and she began her almost 40 year nursing career. Over the years, they moved from Winchester to Charlottesville, then to Henderson, NC, with their final move to Danville in 1979. Marybelle worked as a nurse in each of those locations, finishing with 20 years at Danville Regional. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and was very active there until her health declined.
Charlie and Marybelle were avid campers and were proud to have traveled to all 48 continental states of the US, seeing countless beautiful sights and hundreds of tourist attractions. Marybelle had many hobbies which included bird-watching, knitting baby outfits as a hospital volunteer, crocheting, sewing, stamp-collecting and quilting. She especially enjoyed cooking for her family and church groups, and baking hundreds of Christmas cookies to be enjoyed by others for almost 40 years. Her favorite times were those spent with her grandchildren, who often joined them on camping trips.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy Faulkner (Jeff) of Stovall, NC and Burgaw, NC, her grandchildren Beth Dunlap (Michael), Buddy Faulkner and Bryson Faulkner (Hailey), as well as four great-grandchildren Logan, Peyton, Addie and Mike. She is also survived by her brother Charles Lichliter (Betty) of Fort Valley, her brothers-in-law Dwain Fries of High View, WV, John Fries of Boyce, VA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Debra Lynne Fries, a great- granddaughter Briley Jean Faulkner, a sister Doris Good, and a brother-in-law Ray "Mac" Fries Jr.
