Mary Frank, better known as "Frankie" or "Mimi", died peacefully Saturday September 20, 2014. She was born in Toccoa, GA on March 26, 1931 to Reeder Frank Sewell and Reba Cathey Sewell. Frankie spent her early childhood in Toccoa before moving to Moultrie, GA where she resided until college. In 1949, she came to Virginia to attend Radford College, now University, where she met William Eugene "Gene" Lewis, a student at Virginia Tech. They were married on September 4, 1950 in Danville. Frankie is predeceased by her parents, her in-laws William Elbert and Martha Louise Lewis, her daughter Anna Lee Lewis Eden, son-in-law A. Clark Eden and numerous aunts and uncles. Survivors include her husband Gene Lewis, daughter Donna and her husband Ray Wisian, of Leander, TX, daughters Jeanne Lewis Hoepner and Martha Lynn Brooks both of Danville, ten grandchildren: Stephanie Kovach McNamara, Alex C. Eden, Jr., Jana Eden Jennings, Jamie Eden Peck, Jennifer Eden, Paige Hoepner Thornton Hooker, Jacquetta Wisian Randall, David Wisian, Courtland Brooks, Amanda Bailey and their respective spouses. Frankie is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren. After her children were grown, Frankie returned to school and became an LPN. She worked at DRMC in the nursery. She was later employed at Immediate Care and ended her career at Roman Eagle Nursing Home while volunteering at Danville's Free Clinic. Frankie was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church where she had sung in the choir and taught Sunday School. Frankie was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, September 28, 2014, at Moffett Memorial Baptist Church with the Reverend Cameron Edgar officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. The family will be at the residence, 123 Shadowwood Court. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moffett Memorial Feeding Program or the Alzheimer's Association.
