Mary Fannie Sartin Hodges, 79 of Yanceyville passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015. Born December 5, 1935, she was the daughter of the late David Henry Sartin and Mary Ema Sledge Sartin. She was married to her high school sweetheart, James A. Hodges, Jr. for 59 years who predeceased her. She is survived by a son, Gordon A. Hodges and wife, Melissa of Hamptonville, a daughter, Mary Joan Hodges Butler and husband, Sam of Anderson, grandson Spencer Hodges and wife, Elizabeth of Winterville, NC, granddaughter, Juliana Stackhouse and husband, Christian of Birmingham, Al., grandson, Garrett Butler and granddaughter, Mary Madison Butler, a brother David S. Sartin and wife, Betty, and sister Ruby Hovatter, and husband Gerald. In addition, she is survived by sister-in laws Gloria Ann Lewis, and Donna Hodges, and sister-in law and brother-in law Mary Nell and Dwayne Apple along with a number of nieces and nephews. She graduated valedictorian from Cobb Memorial High School where she was active in many clubs and received degrees in business and accounting from Stratford College. She worked as bookkeeper and office manager for the Belk-Leggett Insurance department. She was well known as a partner with her husband in the Virginia-Carolina Livestock Market and served as volunteer in the library at Sacred Heart School. She was active in the establishment of Piedmont Academy. She was devoted to her family, always there to support them in all their endeavors and was a fantastic cook and seamstress. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, October 10th at Providence Baptist Church, Providence, N.C. with Interment in the family cemetery. The family will receive friends at her childhood home, the current residence of her sister and husband, Ruby and Gerald Hovatter, 2191 Park Springs Road, Providence, NC, on Friday, October 9 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, and other times at this residence.
