Mary Crittendon Hardy, age 100, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, December 31, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Pittsylvania County, Va. on August 26, 1918, a daughter of the late Henry T. Crittendon and Sallie Chilton Crittendon. Mary was married to Garnett G. Hardy who passed away on September 6, 1979. She was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church, Ruth Martin Sunday School Class, Circle #1 and several civic organizations. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Cook Gammon of Danville and Pamela Hardy Burns and her husband, John of Fountain Inn, S.C.; three grandchildren Barry Lee Earles of Cascade, Va., David Burns and his wife, Jackie of Fountain Inn, S. C. and Connie Scearce and her husband, Bobby of Danville; six great-grandchildren, Jennifer McKenney and her husband, Jeff, Shana Steffey and her husband, Justin, Isaac Burns, Elijah Burns, Roman Burns and Lorelei Burns; five great-great-grandchildren, James Elliott, Raegen McKenney, Abigale Green Steffey, Skylar Steffey and Piper Steffey; a sister, Mamie C. Lindsey of Danville; two special nieces, Janice Horsley and Donna Gauldin along with several additional nieces and nephews; a special family friend, Tammy Wilson of Pittsville, Va. Mary was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 1 pm at Mount Hermon Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Cumby and the Reverend Ryan Riley officiating. Burial will be in Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Dry Fork, Va. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
