Mary Baker

Mary Rigney Baker, age 101 died Wednesday, January 6, 2015 at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was a resident at Roman Eagle for the past eight and half years. She was born in Danville on July 9, 1913, a daughter of the late William Rigney and Sarah Jefferson Rigney. Mrs. Baker was married to the late Charles Ellwood Baker who died in l971. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was retired from Thalhimers Department Store. Surviving are her son, Charles David Baker and his wife Lynne of Richmond, one brother, Robert L. Rigney of Danville, two grandchildren, Matthew Baker and Kelly Vega and one great-grandchild, Ethan Vega. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. from the Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Tim Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. at Townes Memorial Chapel. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for the excellent care and compassion shown to our Mother during her stay. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials may be directed to Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, 2526 North Main Street, Danville, VA 24540. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Baker family.
